Over the years I have tried many anti-virus packages. For years I switched
back and forth between Norton and McAfee. They were great utilities until they
became web-based, and then all hell broke loose. I don't know about you, but
I've never had any luck with packages that are supposed to update themselves
daily over the Net. I'm lucky I have a fast broadband connection, so usually
these types of updates happen in the background without me even knowing about
it. But if you use a dial-up connection, forget about it. And then there's the
system freezes and the strange VxD and DLL errors, and the God almighty Blue
Screen of Death.
Well, I'm happy to tell you that ever since I've adopted Panda Titanium
Antivirus 2004 my days of giving my PC the old three-finger salute have ended.
Panda is easy to install, it updates itself quietly in the background, it
scans your system reasonably fast, and it plays well with others so far as I
can tell.
It will also scan incoming email, and considering how much bad stuff is out
there these days, this is a God-send. I've yet to get infected for the past
year. Can't say that about other products I have used.
The best thing about Panda is its "Set It and Forget It" option. Check this
little box once, and you never need to worry about virus scanning again.
That's the way software should work.
