Over the years many ebook compilers have appeared on the market. The most
popular of these is Mediapacker (previously marketed by Miguel Alvarez under
the name
E-ditor).
Recently, the original developers of
E-ditor
have merged with
another software company, and they have elected to market
E-ditor
themselves. As a direct result, they have given their ebook compiler a face
lift, made it more intuitive, and added some new features.

If you want to create a more interactive ebook than the standard Adobe PDF
file allows,
E-ditor
is a great choice.
Your original files may be in either HTML or plain text formats. You can
include Java, JavaScript, Flash, DHTML -- virtually anything that you would
include in a web site.
To create your ebook, you simply show
E-ditor
which directory your
files are stored in, select your options, and click on compile. Depending upon
the total size of your files, the ebook will be compiled in a minute or under.
For testing purposes, we took a recently developed web site using about 30
pages, 30 images, and a little Java, JavaScript, Flash, and DHTML thrown in
for good measure.
E-ditor
did not stumble. It compiled our 7.3 MB file
within a minute.

The resulting ebook was a mirror image of our web site,
complete with animated Flash intro and DHTML navigation. It looked great.
New options include the ability to add a banner or button at
the top of the screen and link it to your web site.
You can also set passwords and registration and security for
individual pages or sections of your ebooks. In this fashion, you can allow
people to download your ebook, read free sections, and register to read the
rest. A very compelling way to market your work.
So if you want to create highly interactive ebooks, software
demos, and guided tours,
E-ditor
is highly recommended. Click
