I usually don't have time to play games, but in the case of 5 Star Free Lines, I now make an exception. Simply put,
the game is terribly addictive.

As the above picture shows, you are presented with a 9 x 9 grid. Upon this
grid appear balls of different colors. The object of the game is to click and move the
balls so you get five of the same color in a row. If you are lucky enough to get five in a
row, the balls disappear from the grid, leaving room for new balls. The catch is that you
can not move a ball if its path is blocked by another ball. You can move the surrounding
balls first, and then move the ball that was blocked -- but only if you have time. As you
play, balls appear in different places frequently blocking your path. There are Jokers
which can be used as a wild card to complete your rows. But you have to think and move
fast, before the board fills up and the game ends.
The game feels a bit like a combination of Free Cell and Tetris, so if
you've played them, this one will be equally enjoyable and challenging. The music and
graphics are mesmerizing. While the game is not a quick-moving, shoot'em up, type of game,
it will get your juices flowing. The author of the games say it is relaxing. I don't know
about that. Maybe it's my Type A, New Yawker personality, but the game makes me nuts and
gives me a chance to blow off steam while I have fun doing something mindless.
Oh, yes. It's freeware. Can you believe it? Go get your copy at www.atomax.com.
