Every once in a while, as I surf through the Internet, I uncover a little known, free
gem. Simple Submit is one such gem. It helps you to submit your web site to various search
engines and directories. While there are other types of tools out there which do this very
well (ie: Dumptruck), Simple Submit has a few extra features
worth a look-see, and don't forget it's free. This combination makes it cool.

Once launched, Simple Submit displays a wizard-like four tabbed screen. The first tab
allows you to enter your URL, meta tag information (keywords and descriptions), and
contact information. This background information may be saved for future use.
The second tab allows you to select or deselect from the list of available engines.
Version 1.1 covers 27 popular engines. Not bad. If you are unfamiliar with a particular
engine, you can highlight it and click it to visit that particular site to see of it is
appropriate for your web site listing before submitting. Very helpful feature.
The third tab shows the status of your submissions once the process has started.
The final tab facilitates manual submissions to those sites which do not accept robot
or automated submissions such as LookSmart, Open Directory, Snap and Yahoo. This type of
challenge is a frequent oversight of many automated submission tools and services. While
Simple Submit can't solve the problem, they have recognized it and have attempted to help
where possible.
One of the nicer features is hidden on the Tools menu -- a Meta Tag Generator. While it
has limited power, it is handy to have this all in one place. Essentially, you enter your
keywords and description, click, and the program generates the proper HTML code for you to
cut and paste into your web page editor.
All told, Simple Submit does its job elegantly. Two points for ADC-Soft. We look forward to
bigger and better tools from this developer.
